| Communication in Korea is relatively cheap. There are many 24-hour PC rooms or Internet cafes in Korea (known as 'PC bongs'). Located almost everywhere in Korea, PC bongs provide high quality computers with an assortment of games and programs at a very reasonable price ($1-2 per hour). If you enjoy games like Star Craft you have come to the right place, as PC games are very popular in Korea. Modems are the same as in Canada or the U.S., and a cable or ADSL connection for your home is only about $30 a month. When your connection is installed in your home, any hardware required for your computer will be installed at the same time. However, with the number of PC bongs available in Korea, it is unlikely that you will require a home computer. Be aware that English versions of computer software (Windows, MS Word, etc.) are difficult to find and expensive. It is advisable to bring any software you may require from home. Most schools will provide access to the Internet. |

If you plan to make overseas calls, purchase an overseas phone card. These are available throughout Korea and are significantly cheaper than calling direct. These can be used with pay phones, cell phones, and home phones.
